School Fees / Policies

Planning Your Visit

To make a reservation for a Space Theater presentation, educational class or time in the exhibit gallery, please follow these simple steps:
1. Fill out the Reservation Form.
2. Call (806) 355-9547 ext. 14 or fax the form to (806) 355-5703. If you have Acrobat Professional or Acrobat Approval you can open the document, fill out the form and email it to reservations@dhdc.org.
3. We will fax you a confirmation of your group reservation, and you MUST have your confirmation when you arrive for your visit.
4. We recommend groups prepay and when this is not possible, the full payment is due upon arrival. To expedite your check-in process, please collect money from students and submit one payment at the time of entry. The payment should be in the form of a check or credit card. Please do not submit a large stack of one dollar bills or bags of change. This will help maximize the time you have to enjoy the Discovery Center.
5. Please arrive for all Space Theater Shows 10 minutes before show time to allow for seating.
6. Programs offered to Home School groups must have a minimum of 15 students.

Policies:

1. A minimum of two (2) weeks notice is required for reservations.
2. Multiple school groups can be scheduled for the same show. Therefore, add-ons the day of your reservation are not guaranteed a seat.
3. Late arrivals for Space Theater shows and hands-on classes are not guaranteed a time slot. The Discovery Center will try to accommodate but makes no guarantees.
4. Schools can be scheduled for the 11am, 1pm or 3pm public shows, reserving up to 60 seats.
5. A 1-to-10 adult to student ratio is required for supervision in all areas.
6. AISD schools must have principal approval for the Outreach Programs.

School Group Fees
You must be a school group visiting Tuesday thru Friday to receive these prices.

Amarillo Independent School District
Unlimited Discovery Center visits during the 2007-2008 school year! This includes all Space Theater shows, Exhibit Galleries, and Lab Explorations!

Each AISD campus receives one free Outreach Program.
-$55 for a second presentation at the same campus
-$50 for each presentation thereafter at the same campus

Each AISD campus receives one free Distance Learning Program
-$70 for a second presentation at the same campus
-$65 for each presentation thereafter at the same campus

All other school districts
Exhibit Galleries--$2.00 per student
Space Theater Show--$2.00 per student (minimum 20, maximum 90 guests per show)
Lab Exploration--$2.00 per student (minimum 20, maximum 45 students)
Outreach Programs (minimum 2 per day, maximum 5 per day)
-$80 for the first program of the day
-$70 for each additional program on the same day
-$0.49 per mile outside Amarillo city limits
Distance Learning Programs
-$80 for the first program
-$75 for each additional program

WOWW Schools
As you make plans for your 2007-2008 field trips, remember that if you are a WOWW school, you have additional funding to support your students’ learning!

How to Make Your Payment

1. Advance payment is recommended.
2. When this is not possible, the Discovery Center will only accept one payment (preferably by check or credit card) for the entire school visit. Please collect and organize cash payment so the contact person can make one transaction with our admission staff.
3. We take Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Debit Card, check or cash. You must show proper ID. The Discovery Center also accepts business purchase orders.
4. Chaperone Policy – one (1) adult per ten (10) students. Extra chaperones will pay $1.00 each for general admission.
5. Bus drivers are admitted free.
6. No refunds are issued.
