National Chemistry Day Celebration

LOCAL EVENTS MARK NATIONAL CHEMISTRY WEEK, OCTOBER 25, 2003
[Amarillo, TX] – The Panhandle Plains Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) will observe National Chemistry Week, on Saturday, October 25, 2003, with a day of free general admission at the Don Harrington Discovery Center. Activities will include demonstrations, hands-on experiments and take home activities. Chemistry Day is sponsored by the Panhandle Plains Section of the ACS and BWXT Pantex and will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This celebration is an opportunity for children of all ages to have fun learning about chemistry, aviation and space. The 2003 theme is “Earth’s Atmosphere and Beyond!”

National Chemistry Week is an outreach program of the ACS and is aimed at enhancing the public’s awareness of the contributions of chemistry to our everyday lives and the nation’s economy. ACS local sections, industrialists, educators and promoters of chemistry awareness celebrate it nationwide. Admission to the Discovery Center will be FREE for general museum admission. The Space Theater will charge regular admission of $1.00 per person for shows at 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
